What you're working with
Orbital HTML templates are plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. There's no backend, no database and no build step, so they run on any static host. The full guide is in the ZIP: README.md, and the same guide as a web page in docs/index.html.
1. Unzip and preview
Unzip the file from Account → Purchases. You get one folder named after the theme.
The shop, product, cart and search pages load your products from products.json, and browsers block that when you open a page straight from your disk. So preview through a small local server instead of double-clicking index.html:
- Python: run
python3 -m http.server 8080in the folder, then openhttp://127.0.0.1:8080. - Node 18 or newer: run
node tools/lib/server.mjs. - VS Code: use the Live Server extension.
Previewing on your own computer never uses your licence activation.
2. Add your products
Everything the shop shows lives in one file, products.json: your store name, currency, collections, products, prices, options, photos and sold-out rules. Put your photos in assets/img/ and point each product at them. The README explains every field.
3. Add your licence key
Open products.json and paste your key from Account → Licences into the store section:
"store": { "name": "Your shop", "licenceKey": "PASTE-YOUR-KEY-HERE", ... }That's all. The first time a page loads on your live domain, the template activates the key for that domain.
4. Connect checkout and forms
The templates have a cart, but no built-in checkout. You can point Check out at a hosted checkout link (set checkoutUrl in products.json), connect a cart service through the documented checkout hook, or run the site as a catalogue. The contact and newsletter forms need a form service such as Formspree or Netlify Forms. The README shows each option.
5. Upload
Upload the pages, products.json and the assets/ folder to your host. You don't need src/ or tools/ to run the site.
- Netlify: drag the folder onto Netlify Drop, or connect a Git repo with no build command.
- Cloudflare Pages: upload the folder, or connect Git with no build command.
- Any other host (GitHub Pages, Vercel, shared hosting): upload the files.
If the site lives in a sub-folder (like example.com/shop/), change <base href="/"> in 404.html to match. The README also shows how to use the styled 404 page on Apache and nginx.
Good to know
- The demo brand, copy and prices are placeholders to replace with your own. The template's original photos are licensed to you for use on your licensed site.
- One HTML purchase covers one website.
