What the key is for
Every purchase comes with one licence key for one live store or website. Activating it removes the "not activated" notice and keeps you eligible for updates and support. Find your key in Account → Licences or in your receipt email.
On Shopify
- Open the theme editor (Online Store → Themes → Customize).
- Go to Theme settings → License and paste the key into License key.
- Press Save, and make sure the theme is published.
The first time the published theme loads on your store's domain, it activates the key for that domain.
HTML templates
- Open
products.json. - Paste the key into the
storesection as"licenceKey": "YOUR-KEY". - Upload the site.
The first time a page loads on your live domain, the template activates the key for that domain.
What you'll see
- Not activated yet: a small notice in the bottom corner saying the theme licence is not activated. Visitors can close it, and it never covers the page or moves anything.
- In the Shopify theme editor: a hint for you instead, for example to add your key, or that a new version is ready in your Orbital account.
- Activated: nothing at all. That's the point.
What the check does, and doesn't do
- It starts only after the page has finished loading, so it never slows your store down.
- It never blocks, hides or changes anything on your store.
- It remembers a good answer for 7 days, so it isn't checking on every page view.
- If our licence server can't be reached, your site carries on as if the key were active.
- It only sends the key, your domain and the theme version. No cookies and no visitor data.
One key, one theme, one platform
Each key belongs to one theme on one platform. A Nottelume Shopify key won't activate the Nottelume HTML template, or another theme. If you use the wrong key, the notice says the key is for another Orbital theme or platform.
Testing first? Previews and test sites don't use your activation: see Test stores, previews and staging sites.
